Make a Cheeky Monster Violet mask

It’s time for another cheeky creation – let’s make monster masks so you can become your favourite Cheeky Monster! Here’s Violet...

Once you’ve made Violet, have a go at making the rest of the Cheeky Monster masks. Then you will be able to create your own Cheeky Monster show with your friends and family, and dress up as your favourite monster.

What you will need:

  • A purple felt pen
  • A pencil
  • A sheet of A4 purple card
  • A sheet of light purple, purple, white, light blue and pink foam
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • A lolly-pop stick
  • Masking tape
  • A grown-up helper

What to do:

  1. To start, carefully draw the shape of Violet’s head and the outline of her eyes with your pencil and once you are happy with the shape go over it with the purple felt pen.
  2. Carefully cut around the head outline to get your Violet shape.
  3. Now it’s time to cut out the eyes. Carefully poke the scissors through the centre of the eye shape to make a hole and then cut out the eye shape. You should ask your grown-up if you need help you with this.
  4. With your pencil, draw out four spots from the light purple foam, then put to one side.
  5. The next step is to draw out Violet’s mouth on the purple foam and cut out, then put to one side.
  6. Take the light purple foam, draw and cut out two eyebrows and chin then put to one side.
  7. Draw and cut out two horns, two teeth and the tiara from the white foam, then put them to one side.
  8. From the pink foam draw and cut out Violet’s tongue.
  9. Finally draw and cut out a star from the light blue foam and you are ready to assemble your Violet mask.
  10. Lay out the Violet mask with the foam pieces next to it.
  11. Apply the glue stick to the mouth and stick in place.
  12. Put a little bit of glue on the four spots and stick them in place on the right and left of Violet’s face.
  13. Next, apply glue to the eyebrows and place above the eyes.
  14. Stick the chin in place under the mouth and then stick the two white teeth on top of the mouth along with the tongue.
  15. For the next part you will need to turn your mask over.
  16. The horns and tiara are to be stuck the reverse side of the mask, make sure you have them peeking over the edge.
  17. Turn the mask back over and stick the light blue star on top of the tiara.
  18. Then draw in with the purple felt pen two lines leading off the eyes for Violet’s eyelashes.
  19. Finally turn the mask over again and with a small piece of masking tape stick the lollypop stick in place for your mask holder and you are ready to play.
